平成 19 年 9 月から、全国の地方ブロック毎に設置された「風景街道地方協議会」に於いて、「風景街道」の第１回目の登録が開始され、北は北海道、南は沖縄と、日本の各地で、９６の風景街道が登録されました。
各風景街道のテーマも多種多様で、歴史性を題材にしたものや雄大な自然景観を題材にしたもの等、各地域に現存する魅力的な資源を生かしたものとなっており、今後の活動で、より一層魅力的な地域が形成され、IGS地域が活性化されていくことが期待されます。
